SEA it COOK it Pilot Project

The SEA it COOK it Pilot Project was set up in 2015 for school children in SE Cornwall to be able to understand about local sustainable fish, cooking simple dishes and enjoying eating it.

We have worked with five schools who have all enjoyed the visit to Looe Harbour, Pengelleys’ Fish Shop and the Fish Auction. The school children were able to have their lunch in the beautiful Guild Hall where we found the painting of Angela’s, the lady in the fish shop, great great grandmother! See the photos below.

The cookery sessions in the five schools have involved up to 30 children in each school, teachers, class assistants, parents and volunteers. We have used SEA FISH fish the dish recipes and then created lots more dishes –see our recipe page coming soon. All these dishes and recipes have been shared and enjoyed with parents, siblings and grandparents.

We hope to work with more schools in 2016. If you could give a small donation to help the children learn about healthy eating we would be very grateful. Or if you would like to be a volunteer please contact us.

“Educating the younger generation on the Cornish fishing industry is a key part of the FLAG strategy and this project is a great example of it in action. With support from Looe Harbour Commissioners and the local fishmongers it is great to see Brilliant Fish Education encouraging local children to learn about the variety of species we have in our waters.” Tony Tomlinson, FLAG Chairman
